About this course

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is thousands of years old and rooted in the concepts of holism and balance. It stresses prevention of illness over medical treatment. This introductory, two-part course promotes awareness of TCM approaches to health and herbs. Gain a basic understanding of your body constitution and learn general self-care practices based on Chinese culture and philosophy. Learn how common foods can act as herbal remedies that restore the body's balance. And try your hand at popular recipes which are nourishing for all.

Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 50 and above may apply for a coupon code to be eligible for National Silver Academy (NSA) subsidised fees (administered by the Council for Third Age, C3A). Please email the course provider at activeageing@fycs.org to verify your eligiblity. Upon successful verification, you will be issued a coupon code.

Course Access Period

This online micro-learning course is delivered via the Gnowbe platform and comprises two key topics – Fundamentals of Traditional Chinese Medicine and TCM Herbs and Health. Please note that this is an asynchronous course to be completed at your own pace within two months from the enrolment date. Do also note that the course tile may take up to 48 hours to show up on your dashboard after purchase, and your access will start after it has been made accessible.

Biography

Physician Tay Ai Choo is currently an associate lecturer and clinical tutor at Singapore TCM College. Besides attending to patients at Family Central, Fei Yue Community Services and Zhongjing TCM Clinic, she also teaches TCM subjects in both Chinese and English for TCM enthusiasts at Family Central.

Her academic achievements include: a Master's degree in Adult Education from the University of Sheffield, UK, a Master's degree in TCM (Internal Medicine) from Beijing TCM University and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Statistics from Nanyang University. She is a licensed TCM practitioner and acupuncturist with the Ministry of Health.
